About the Foundation
Tempe High opened its doors for the first time in September 1908 and has been in continuous operation since 1907. During our 2007-08 school year, we will celebrate Tempe High's 100th anniversary, beginning with our Centennial Homecoming Celebration. To celebrate this momentous occasion, a Centennial Committee was formed under the wing of the Tempe High Buffalo Foundation. The Buffalo Foundation was established in late 2006, and will become the prime alumni organization for Tempe High School. It helps preserve the proud traditions and history of Tempe High and can serve as an alumni resource for reunions and fundraising events. The Foundation's mission is to support student activities and educational goals, and to provide financial assistance to Tempe High students and staff which will enable students and student groups to participate in academic and extra-curricular activities when other funding is not available.
The Buffalo Foundation Board of Directors is currently made up of members who are teachers and administrators. As the Foundation becomes fully established, we will rely on Alumni to join or replace current positions. The Centennial Committee includes several Buffalo Foundation Board members along with numerous other Tempe High alumni. The Centennial Committee has been meeting for some time now to map out Centennial Celebration events which will take place during the 2007-2008 school year.Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Foundation,or contribute to the Centennial, should contact Buffalo Foundation, P.O. BOX 27405, Tempe, Arizona 85285.
The Committee welcomes any suggestions for celebration activities or fundraisers. In addition, the Historical Committee is searching for old annuals, photographs, newspaper and other memorabilia, particularly clothing, which could be used during the Centennial and for our archives.Tempe High alumni and other interested parties are encouraged to contact the Committee Museum coordinator, Sue Enright at email@example.com or (480) 947-3335 if they have any items they would be willing to donate or loan for use during the Centennial activities. Items may be donated for the display only, or donated to the museum following the Homecoming weekend celebration.
